In 1995, Zhu Ning, who was then a drummer at a rock’n’roll band in Wuhan, found it very hard to find a place to perform on stage. Gradually he dreamed of owning such a place by himself. Zhu Ning started VOX Livehouse in March of 2005, and it has been developed into one of the most important livehouses in Wuhan. There are live performances almost every evening. As well as being a livehouse, VOX offers a space for rehearsal, recording and training, and has launched a music label to provide a platform for people with music dreams, as well as to nurture young talents for the local indi music industry. Till now, Zhu Ning only has one dream in his life and it’s that VOX will one day be able to fund artists, helping to support more musicians and artists.
Zhu Ning is an unreasonable person.
Here is our interview with him.
