THE PURPOSE OF CREATING ALL MOVING SPACE IS QUITE UNREASONABLE. AS LONG AS WE STAY ALIVE WE SHOULD KEEP THIS SPIRIT, WHICH IS UNBELIEVABLE TO US IN SOME WAY.

MOBILE SPACE DESIGNERS

This is a story about two women “hatching” an egg of creativity.

‘ We eventually sketched an egg on paper after drawing many squares and diamond shapes. Then we decided to create an egg shape because metaphorically all the possibilities came from an egg.’ said Joyce Cheng, who was an industrial designer. During a conversation on the rooftop, Joyce Cheng and her friend Umi Lu, who has an architecture background, came up with this idea of launching All Moving Space.

This is a small and moveable space that can be installed in 24 hours with several resin boards. It can bear a lot of functions in any corner of the city. The purpose of having this installation is to fill in the unused spaces caused by the urban development. It is meant for containing human-friendly contents that can bridge the communication gaps between citizens.

The fragmented spaces in the city can be parks or an empty road outside some one’s house. So far, the government has not maximized the value of these leftover spaces apart from growing green plants, building artificial landscapes or running tracks. However, All Moving Space can bring way more interesting contents to the city. It can activate the fragmented space by turning its egg shape into a canteen, cafe, Chinese pancake stall, library, painting studio, rehearsal studio, karaoke club, gym, newsstand, corner shop, capsule hotel and more. This is a way to reconnect people and bring them back to the reality since people nowadays have been lost in the internet and virtual world. All Moving Space might not significantly change one’s life, it certainly can bring some joys to you and create some little buzzes in your mind.
