Su Wukou, owner of a Taobao based fashion designer brand Purlicue, becomes a hot topic in China’s fashion industry. His direct and ironic ways of doing and presenting fashion put another layer onto those simple garments.
“People don’t see me as an independent fashion designer, they don’t see me as an artist either, I’m kind of in between these two zones.” said Su.
From his “The Fake” collection to “Please steal this clothing” action at Uniqlo, then his recent “Non-cooperation” exhibition with Sankuanz, Su claims all his designs and works are just simply reflection or translation of the facts he faces everyday, but leaves a strong impression to the audience this is a big challenge to the existed fashion system.
